Estero Bay Abalone is prized for it’s delicious flavor that has distinguished fine dining in California since the early 1900’s. Once plentiful along the coast of California, over harvesting and loss of habitat resulted in closure of the commercial fishery. Red abalone (Haliotis rufecens) are the largest in the world and are now grown in onshore tanks for consumers. Here in cold Pacific Ocean water the abalone are nurtured for five years and fed their natural diet of Macrocystis kelp. Estero Bay Abalone are grown by The Abalone Farm, the oldest and largest abalone aquaculture facility in the United States. Estero Bay and Man-Ling Abalone are grown in a protected environment to larger gourmet sizes in the traditional style for discerning connoisseurs.
